When it comes to enjoying an idyllic Saturday afternoon, the city offers an overabundance of eateries, from quaint bistros to greasy spoons to dim sum. A pleasant experience at any of these establishments is always rudely interrupted by the arrival of a bill. That is, unless you choose to brunch at the QFC on 15th Avenue East. On weekends, the supermarket offers an impressive selection of samples unmatched by its sister locations: donut holes, mini-muffins, and freshly made brownies in the baked-goods section; blueberries, cherries, and strawberries in produce. These sample stations are unsupervised, so you can fill up on pastries and fruit without feeling self-conscious. If, upon finishing chocolate-chip muffin #5, such a sentiment does kick in, you can eliminate it by picking up a few groceries on your way out the door. —Erika Hobart416 15th Ave. E., 322-5020.
