Best Burger

Zippy's

West Seattle's Highland Park neighborhood is so starved for non–convenience-store dining options that the owners of Zippy's could have taken to serving cold, unsweetened oatmeal out of its tiny storefront, and there still would have been lines out the door. Instead, the 2-year-old hole-in-the-wall serves arguably the best burgers in the entire city. The space is about as big as a walk-in closet, so be prepared to wait a little (or call ahead) and knock back a vintage soda while scanning walls filled with nostalgic photographs featuring great patty purveyors of yore. Speaking of which, remember back when Kidd Valley still had its Burger Babe and actually gave a shit about quality? Zippy's will get those memories racing back to your drooling mouth. Game on, Red Mill—the west side is now officially the best side, for burgers, anyway. —Mike Seely 1513 S.W. Holden St., 763-1347, zippysgiantburgers.com
