There are plenty of reasons not to visit Bremerton. Too many, in fact, to present here. But there is at least one compelling reason to do so: the Ferry to Bremerton. It's not just a better ride than the one most tourists take to Bainbridge, it's one-fifth the price of the tour Argosy makes to the same destination, and you get more time on the water. Sure, you can't take booze out of WSDOT's stuffy cafeteria, but buying your suds from a vendor is such an Argosy move. The Bremerton run is so long and the boats so old that the crews have forsaken liquor enforcement to avoid commuter unrest. This tour cruises across Elliott Bay, around Blake Island, and through Rich Passage before touching down at the much-ballyhooed waterfront park in downtown Bremerton.
