Marriott Seattle Waterfront's 2100 Bar
Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson become fast friends after meeting in a hotel bar in Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation. Granted, Murray isn't all that in the looks department, but there is something to be said about an older, well-established man who will buy a woman a drink, carry on a decent conversation, and refrain from attempting to sleep with her. These sort of men—many of whom actually are incredibly attractive—frequent the Marriott Seattle Waterfront's 2100 Bar. They're usually here on business. Occasionally they're visiting family. Most are lonely or bored, and looking for companionship while they sip their late-evening scotch. I once met and had a drink here with a handsome fellow from the Discovery Channel. Another night I befriended a darling father in town for his daughter's wedding. Granted, Lost in Translation was set in a Hyatt, not a Marriott. But 2100 Bar's delightful guests, classy cocktails, and spectacular view of Elliott Bay rivals—if not tops—the film's hotel-bar scene.—Erika Hobart
