Bombaii Cutters is fabulously funky. Britney Spears' music blares on the stereo. Plastic giraffes and zebras stand under real palm trees. The salon owner's dog, a sassy Shih Tzu named Daisy, sunbathes by the entrance and yaps when clients walk in. The laid-back atmosphere is a far cry from that of most trendy salons. Here you can get a fierce haircut, drink freshly brewed coffee, and watch X-Men on a high-def screen—all for $40 plus tip. Not too shabby for downtown Kirkland. For best results, ask for Diane—a chatty Rhode Island transplant whose humor is as sharp as her scissor skills.—Erika Hobart
