The trip to Port Townsend is nearly as compelling as your final destination, easily allowing you to chalk up that drive time to your guests as just another part of the Northwest experience. There's the boat from Seattle (take your pick: Kingston, Bainbridge, Bremerton), the drive through Kitsap, and the newly renovated Hood Canal Bridge. If you leave early enough, you may be able to hit Kingston's Hood Canal Brewery for a growler or Chimicum's famous Chimicum Cafe for a slice of pie before your afternoon of window-shopping on Port Townsend's Water Street. Save room for fish and chips on the street's eponymous brewery, and refill that growler on the way out of town at the Port Townsend Brewery, tucked right in among the marooned ships with peeling paint jobs.
