Best Addition to California Avenue

Zeek's

Ask any red-blooded resident of West Seattle's less-trendy burgs what his or her top food complaint is, and half of them will tell you it's the lack of adequate pizza-delivery service. To take nothing away from White Center Spaghetti House, Garlic Jim's, Olympia, or Luciano's, the fact that the Junction franchise of Best of Seattle® Lifetime Achievement Award winner Pagliacci's continues to redline such a huge, fertile swath of the Westside is befuddling. This is why Zeek's decision to open a cavernous space at California and Fauntleroy was met with more elation than the opening of a pizza joint would typically merit. The decision means Arbor Heights, Westwood, and the like can now get consistently first-class pie delivered to their doorsteps on hangover Sundays. But that's not the only reason to salute the arrival of the West Seattle Zeek's—with its immediate neighbors to the north, the Feedback Lounge and the Beveridge Place Pub, the Morgan Street Junction has now completed its transformation from the "other" Junction to a legitimate nighttime destination. Now if only Chuck & Sally's would reopen down the street.—Mike Seely
