Best Thing About Sound Transit

Martin Luther King Way

Sure, the once seemingly never-ending construction along Martin Luther King Way disrupted countless businesses, sent traffic through an obstacle course, and sank billions of dollars into a project that might not improve upon the existing bus service. But oh, how nice MLK looks now! The city's beautification of MLK has turned the once-scraggly artery into a grand boulevard, with lines of trees, newly paved sidewalks, and soaring decorative objects along the line. Ironically, one of the other nice things Sound Transit has brought are new bus shelters. Who needs the train? The agency could stop right there and let us ride the bus on our spruced-up street.—Nina Shapiro
