Best Place to Race Downhill Like a Bicycling Fool

Interlaken Park

There are a lot of great hills in Seattle, and many of them would be amazing to ride down on your bicycle willy-nilly without so much as touching the brakes. But as tends to be the case with wonderful riding routes, these hills are often treacherously packed with traffic and other pedestrians. But as long as you avoid the afternoon rush hour when Hebrew Academy and Seattle Prep let out, the winding, tree-lined road through Interlaken Park is a remarkably safe rush. In fact, letting go down Interlaken Drive East and East Interlaken Boulevard could make anyone feel like Lance Armstrong flying through the Pyrenees during Le Tour. The best part: It's not a hard climb back up for repeat rounds.—Joshua Lynch
