Sourcing local milk and produce and making their frozen concoctions entirely from scratch (no prefab mixes tolerated here), Empire Ice Cream's flavors are simply—as they should be for a cream-based dessert—too much: Ultra-rich, really creamy, super-indulgent, with surprising and spot-on accurate flavors. Consult their site for flavors of the week, which follow the seasons. As we go to print, the lineup includes their classic brown sugar (simply amazing), roasted apricot, sweet fennel, and a savory tomato–lemon basil sorbet, in addition to a more traditional fresh mint with chocolate and cacao nib-choco swirl (both crafted with Theo chocolate). At the end of the season, you'll have a great spiced pumpkin to look forward to.
