The other morning, I was surfing the Web in the guest bedroom of my home near the Delridge Home Depot in West Seattle. Upon visiting the West Seattle Blog, I learned that my neighbor's dog was crouching down to take a morning dump on my front lawn, as he often does. So I looked out my window and, sure enough, there was the mutt, about to break one off. I ran outside and shooed him away before he dropped that deuce, and I owe it all to Tracy Record, a TV news veteran who abandoned the boob tube in order to start a blog that covers the hell out of Seattle's provincial peninsula. And not just news of high crime and intrigue, but the most minute details. If a parakeet sneezes north of Roxbury, it's liable to be up on Record's blog (her husband helps her) within a matter of minutes. And while I'm fibbing about them getting the scoop on my neighbor dog's defecation habits—except for the part about me catching him in the nick of time—it wouldn't surprise me at all if one day this prophecy came true.—Mike Seely
