Helmet, schmelmet. When it comes to influential, New York-based hardcore, noise rock bands, Unsane were the kings of that late-80s and early 90s scene (though often holding court with a similar degree of reigning authority as the like-minded Cop Shoot Cop). Without their gripping combination of tunefulness and grinding sludge, we wouldnt have had bands like Girls Against Boys or, arguably, the Northwests iconic hardcore touchstone, Botch.
