The June Carter Cash Project

Live Girls! presents three original one-act plays by women inspired by the music of June Carter. All the pieces deal in their own way with the rhythms of relationships and with love in all its forms: lost, found, reconciled, abandoned. Darian Lindle’s Jackson, directed by Shawn Belyea, skillfully weaves the stories of several phases of romance while sacrificing neither edge nor a sense of humor. Joanna Horowitz, who appears in two pieces as well as on guitar at the show’s close, deserves particular mention for her acting here, as does her castmate Chris Bell. Live musical accompaniment makes up in intimacy and fun what the theatrical production may occasionally lack in polish. (Afternoon “happy hour” shows feature a $1 PBR special.)
