Weatherside Whiskey Band

This five-piece country bluegrass group's 7-track EP, Pickin' the Pines, jumps from boot-stomping anthems saddled with 20-something worries ("26") to rollicking Waylonesque ballads ("Oklahoma"). They might not be Seattle's most practiced string ensemble, but what they lack in cohesiveness—and sometimes, vocal ability—they make up for with the buoyant enthusiasm they bring to their brand of jangly, road-worn tunes.
