“I have seen the future of techno, and it is Truckasaurus.” That might be the most glowing praise ever given a local band in that scene, having come from Pitchfork and, more specific, erstwhile SW scribe and general superstar Philip Sherburne. But industry tastemakers have increasingly noticed the analog tweakers for their dance-floor innovations since they rose to headliner status last summer at sweat-shacks like the VIP Room. Tyler and Adam Swan and Ryan Trudell manipulate Gameboys and Commodore 64s to make colorfully chaotic beats, matched live with video projections from Dan Bordon. Truck’s forthcoming Tea Parties, Guns & Valor is previewed at tonight’s gig with Nordic Soul and headliner Apparat. Performing tonight with a three-piece band, Berliner Apparat (Sascha Ring) last charmed Seattle with a knockout showcase during 2006’s Decibel Festival. His productions alone (check out the excellent full-length Walls) and with artists like Ellen Allien have often used vocals, guitars, and cellos as grounding elements to their celestial nature—it’s pop electronic that’s surprisingly deep.
