Ganglians

The Sacramento indie-rock quartet Ganglians recently returned stateside after an overseas tour around Europe; the band is pushing their third album, the double LP Still Living. Still Living, which was produced by Dirty Projectors collaborator Robby Moncrieff and released by the San Francisco label Lefse in August, reroutes Ganglians’ established psychedelic sound into something brighter and poppier. Apt comparisons have been made to Fleet Foxes (“Jungle” might as well be a lost track from Fleet Foxes’ Sun Giant EP) and the Beach Boys (see “Drop the Act”’s buoyant harmonies or “Sleep”’s echoing vocal rounds), and that’s not a bad thing. With their ringing and reverbing guitars and sunburst melodies, Ganglians fit nicely into the sparkling pantheon of West Coast pop-rock. With Young Prisms. ERIN K. THOMPSON
