The pummeling, power-chord-loving Mississippi duo Bass Drum of Death stirred up some attention earlier this year when they served as the backing band for Odd Futures MellowHype during a Fuel TV performance. BDODs own music deserves that level of recognition in its own right, though. On their debut album, GB City, which was released in April, drummer Colin and vocalist/guitarist John (no last names) play songs that are gleefully clamorous, thrashy, and guttural (Get Found and Young Pros are hooky standouts). Its a balls-out style of rock-and-roll comparable to that of JEFF The Brotherhood, another noisy-as-hell twosome, or, for that matter, Vancouvers Japandroids, who will headline tonights show. ERIN K.
