Footloose Quote-Along and Sing-Along Party

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with your favorite Kevin Bacon movie from 1984. Our Chicago-smart hero arrives in a small, repressed Midwestern town, falls for a girl (Lori Singer), and teaches everyone the power of Kenny Loggins. Memorable Reagan-era hits from the movie also include–besides the title track–“Let’s Hear It for the Boy” by Deniece Williams, Sammy Hagar’s “The Girl Gets Around,” and John Mellencamp’s “Hurts So Good.” Oh, indeed it does. In supporting roles, also look for a young, pre-sophisticated Sarah Jessica Parker, a relatively svelte Chris Penn, and John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest as the disapproving parents. Drinking and toasting follow the movie, which is subtitled with the song lyrics. (PG) T. BOND
