The EMP Sound Off! Competition has been responsible for adding fuel to the fire of some great winning acts and failing to do so for some others (yeah, Ive never heard of The Gruff Mummies either). But while one of its recent low-profile victors, Dyno Jamz, hasnt been in your face with new music, thats all about to change with the outfits eponymous debut record. In the vein of Digable Planetsbut then outside it altogetherthe seven-piece band filled with brass and fronted by the MC Turtle Toes seeks out the commonality between jazz and hip-hop.
