The problem I see with this article is the FAILURE of the writer Mark Feter in his description of who did this!

In this case points of Islamic doctrine are irrelevant. Dar al Islam can sink back into the sand for all most of us (rightfully) care.

This is what should have happened:
(1) All Molly's costs should be underwritten by Uncle Sam.
(2) All the president's horses and all of his men should have tracked down the source of the fatwa
and
(3)Whatever nation was harbouring the frothing cretin should have had their ambassador called on the mat and given a choice between handing over said weasel or having them extracted by skilled professionals.
The jihadi have sent a clear message that borders are not to be honoured - a position upheld by their sponsors - then so be it. They make the rule - we play by it.
There must be no safe rock for jihadists who threaten us to crawl under.

While Draw Muhammad Day itself received the world's attention, Molly Norris's disappearance has received little attention outside Seattle and a few right-wing news outlets who are using it for their own agendas. I would not have known she went into hiding if I hadn't heard it from a friend whose daughter lives in Seattle.

What I see in our little world is there are many intolerant people around, As a muslim we have to respect all religions no matter what they believe in. I was born as a muslim of one of the former South Arabia now called Yemen very well known and educated families. My people lived side to side to all kind of nationalities and religions. Never in my entire life while I was living there happened to hear of fights between muslims and other religions over there, Bu now and after we joined the so called Unity, Oh well well??? what can I say? The whole issue about the "Florida Pastor" and "Molly Norris" was about intentional public displays of disrespect and humiliation of peoples and peoples that the USA is trying to develop a positive relationship with. Peoples who's countries we have invaded in the name of rightiousness and that we are still occupying in a minority position and that we are seeking cooperation from.
The fact is that disgarding and even burning these books and FLAGS takes place in private everyday for several reasons, like they are damaged, worn-out or spoiled in some way or even overstocked. It's when you burn or desecrate these books intentionally and publically for purposes of spreading HATE and BAD WILL that its wrong.

Also, folks. Islam is not a person. It can't get angry or be offended. It can't attack you. It can't bomb or threaten or stab you. To say Islam's problem is that IT is too ______, is to say Christianity's problem is it's too hypocritical. It gets drunk and beats it's wife. It secretly molests children. It subjugates the poor and supports tax-cuts for the rich. It invades Iraq. It wants to take over Uganda and Execute homosexuals.
But despite the fact that Christians, the Bible belt, the "moral Majority", and Christian terrorist groups and governments in Africa do all the above things, "Christianity" itself, doesn't.
The actions of half the world, a good chunk of its cultures, political and economic scenarios, languages, and history, cannot be blamed on some anthropomorphic "Islam" that takes on ALL of the 3rd world's bad qualities.
Now if only Judaism would stop its apartheid activities in Israel...

Muslims have NO power over this guy, and they haven't been issuing fatwas against him because his column appeared in the terrorist magazine, and Muslim leaders typically don't read it. They've already issued a fatwa against such violence, even the more extreme African or Paki guys don't believe in assassination.
The thing is, American hasn't been fighting a war against Muslims as a whole, and Muslims as a whole aren't fighting America. If they were, you'd be living in a warzone. But they're not, and they won't be. Wake up and see that your lord-of-the-rings fantasy battles are NOT happening. Obviously Molly Norris was looking for "attention", that is certain.
The FBI involvement was no doubt an effort to avoid another "Florida Pastor" situation and without invoking the President of the United States or the Defense Secretary.
I suspect that it was actually Molly Norris's idea to "Move and change her name" as an exploitation of the FBI's "warning" about what she was doing as well as another draw for "attention".
The "Fatwa", which I have not seen, may have been a Religious ruling or opinion on the type of behavior Molly Norris (and the Pastor) were enacting and the "threat" may have come from what amounted to a "Islamic Bloggers" comments, we really don't know.
Finally, we Americans would be wise not to stir up emotion to these "events" as they probably amount to no more than a politically (and perhaps monetarily) motivated hoax.
after all "wake-up and smell the Jihad" has worn thin....lol

I am a Muslim (been one all my life) and I think this fatwa and the type of people who would issue such a thing or remotely consider acting on it are repugnant. I have not in my entire life known or come across any Muslim who would consider fulfilling this so-called fatwa.
We are not a monolith, just like any other group. And if most of the world's 1.5 billion Muslims were as they're portrayed or believed to be by the masses these days, they would have taken over the world. It just isn't true. Most Muslims are just regular people trying to make a living. Throughout history, those with criminal, facist tendencies find a popular cause into which to channel their tendencies. Today, among Muslims, such people channel it through fundamentalism. They prey on impressionable/oppressed people to become their foot soldiers. It's as simple as that.

This is nothing but the latest chapter in a Biblical Hatfield & McCoy feud that has been going on for centuries.
The reality is that there really is a war going on - and it's the same war that's been going on for centuries.
But the two sides in this war are rarely recognized with any clarity. In this war, on one side are all of us, call us "moderates" if you will. We are the ones who don't want to go to war every time we meet someone who doesn't view the world as we do. We want to live our lives and raise our children and live to play with our grandchildren. We are Muslims and Christians and every faith in the world.
On the other side is the real enemy; the extremists of all ideologies, whether they are Muslims, Christians, Communists - it doesn't matter what faith or ideology they ascribe to, extremists are never satisfied to live around others who don't bow down to them - they live to get the rest of us whipped into a frenzy so we'll let them talk us into one war after the other. Wars that NEVER put an end to their hatred and fear-mongering.
They breed hate and distrust, they foment discord, they manufacture emergencies so we think we have to let them talk us into sending our children to die in unnecessary wars.
They seek out positions of power so they can start their wars.
It never ends and it never will as long as we let them tell us that we must act out of fear and distrust.

That the FBI would act as an accomplice to Ms Norris' disappearance (according to the Weekly) means that the FBI is in some respects helping carry out terrorist ends.

I stand by what I wrote: surrounded by Trident Nuke Base, the Stryker Brigade at Ft Lewis, the Everett Naval base, Sand point Naval base, Whidbey Island Naval base...plus a big shiny new Homeland Security building on Pacific Hywy...why are we paying for all this? I'm not writing this as some dodo farina brained SEattle leftoidal bot; I was more or less for the military wing of the war on terror up until the Molly Norris story broke two days agao. But now I realize our whole military operation is useless if it cannot save a single artist. Take the F-18 and give me back Molly. What is the whole Blue Angels show of force (They fly over Seattle every August for SEaFair) about if they cannot forestall threats - mere threats mind you - on a local artist? Look, it's not just the enforcement that seems gutted by this it is our political leadership and cultural leadership as well that is found wanting. What nobody (except for you commentators here) seems to get is that the Jihadis were not just going for Molly but they are going for you and me as well. This is a very very big deal and I refuse to give it the gentle cowardly kiss-off like The Weekly. This coats us all in very bright highly polished shame.

So yeah, they can't give her back to you; only she can do that. And you know what, she'd still be in danger even if we pulled back every soldier and become an isolationist country.
