The six to 11 short plays on any given evening of this production were submitted from around the country and have in common, refreshingly, nothing except brevity. On a recent evening, offerings included an Alzheimers twilight drama; a sly polyphony about a scraggly folksinger, his detractors and admirers; a gay seduction pas de deux at IKEA; and a Rolling Stone writers interview with the first female pope, who chugs Diet Coke, flirts, and shows off her legs. Acting and scripts vary in sophistication, but generally deliver worthwhile story memes. The venue is air-conditioned, and the top audience/judge picks will be encored at Bumbershoot.
