After 33 years, 14 albums, uncountable alumni, 18 tours, a monster named Eddie, and very little radio play, Iron Maiden can still rock. Who cares if very few outside their fan base know any other songs than Run to the Hills? These guys pioneered the 11-minute metal anthem, and for that, I love them. Even though the English group last released new material two years ago, tour number 19, the Somewhere Back in Time World Tour, proudly mines their Cold-War glory years of 1980-89 (with a greatest-hits companion album, of course). Cap Hill hiptards in their too-tight jeans and ironic T-shirts may think their music is a relic of a bygone era, but the rest of the world says otherwise. On this current tour, Maiden has sold out shows in Japan, Australia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Canada, India, and most of Europe. (Try that, Bright Eyes.)
