Make all the band camp and Glee cracks you like, Seattle is home to some of the finest high school jazz band programs in the country. Montlake Terrace, Roosevelt, and many others regularly produce crackerjack bands, and Garfield High School is about to get themselves banned from competition if they dont stop with the punishing performances. This year the Clarence Acox-directed band took first place in the prestigious Essentially Ellington Competition in New York for a record fourth time in a decade. They dont rebuild, folks, they just reload. Tonight, all three of Garfields bands are performing in a farewell to the seniors concert. Dont worry, well be right back here next year. CHRIS KORNELIS
