Drinks With Darwin

If you missed out on Darwin Day last week, the worldwide celebration honoring the bicentennial of Charles Darwin’s birth, then you’re probably not alone. According to a recent Harris Poll, more Americans believe in angels than they do in the theory of evolution. With the election of Barack Obama, however, change has come. In his inaugural address, he advocated the “restoration of science to its rightful place.” At tonight’s belated birthday event, you can do just that—and with a drink in your hand—by first listening to UW evolutionary biologist Carl Bergstrom’s crash course on natural selection, then touring the Lucy’s Legacy exhibit to meet our 3.2-million-year-old ancestor.
