The Tallest Man On Earth

Monday, December 29

The Tallest Man on Earth is also one of the most talented musicians in Sweden. Kristian Matsson – who’s not especially tall, physically, but certainly so in terms of confidence – sings like a young Dylan, but with more gravel in his craw, and plays his acoustic guitar with an agile fingerpicking style and a firm knowledge of the Smithsonian Folkways catalog. Whether he’s traveled through the Mississippi Delta in a car or just in his mind, Matsson’s got a surprising grasp of the region’s folk-blues legacy and spirit, and his music is accordingly rich, a bit dark, and plenty soulful and compelling.
