The grandson of FDR has written a memoir, Too Close to the Sun, which includes five years in the White House during the Great Depression. Then, with his mother remarried, Curtis Roosevelt moved to Seattle, where his stepfather worked for the P-I. After that, life proved somewhat anticlimactic, as the author struggled with his family legacy. But, on the bright side, he avoided a career in politics. BRIAN MILLER
