Thrill the World 2008

You may already have noticed the undead boozing around town this month. They’re probably—probably—just ordinary living citizens, not brain-eaters, headed to rehearsals for today’s Thrill the World 2008. It’s a global plan for simultaneous re-enactments of Michael Jackson’s famed dance from the 1982 “Thriller” video (just like on that YouTube video from the Philippine prison). Several local groups have begun practicing for the event. Says d9 dance company member Jody Kuehner, who first donned zombie garb two years ago to learn the steps with Circus Contraption, “It felt really grassroots—it was a Craigslist listing to show up to three rehearsals and then come to this big party. It was so fun and off-the-cuff.” (She’s since been a part of the synchronized group dance at the Vera Project, and will next perform it at Chop Suey’s “Lick” party on Nov. 1.) It may be too late to join today’s chorus line, but you can still observe. Just hold onto your brains. See www.seattlethrillers.com to confirm location (probably Westlake Park) and time.
