Baracktoberfest

We can go around and around over which presidential candidate is better equipped to get the country out of Iraq and save us from recession. But one thing is indisputable: Barack Obama is one tall drink of water—or maybe lager or a porter. Jen Kattula and Natala Menezes decided to combine their love of fall brews and of the dashing Democratic presidential candidate with this Baracktoberfest campaign fundraising event. The women haven’t chosen one specific beer to represent their choice for the White House, because that would be divisive GOP-style drinking. And Obama is all about quaffing together. Drink specials will run all day long, says Menezes, with root beer for those in the dreaded gap between voting age and legal age. Trivia games are expected to lend to the fun. “Just drink for change,” says Kattula. Red Door Alehouse, 3401 Evanston Ave. N., 547-7521, www.reddoorseattle.com. $25 suggested. 2 p.m. LAURA ONSTOT
