Sex in Seattle, Episode 16

“The Space In-Between,” which easily could have been renamed “Who’s Your Daddy?”, maintains playwright Kathy Hsieh’s tradition of deliciously scandalous plot development, as the damsels of the newest installment in this long-running stage serial again effortlessly flatten the “model minority” stereotype of chaste, submissive Asian-American women. Against a bright, geometric set and flat-screen backdrop, the plotlines—the tangled realities and fantasies of a psychic hotline operator (Leilani Berinobis) losing the battle for celibacy, a suddenly pregnant working girl (May Nguyen) dodging her three increasingly suspicious possible baby-daddies, a confused married virgin (Hsieh herself) caught in a love triangle that would do Madame Bovary proud, and a temptress (Miko Premo) unable to get any—result in gut-wrenchingly hilarious antics that ought to be on prime time. JENNA NAND 8 & 10:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat. Ends Oct. 18.
