The Tractor

Since 1994, the Tractor has been Seattle’s foremost space for acts like Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, whose sound—like most who perform on the Double T stage—somehow fits under the “alt-country” umbrella. Stumble in on a given night and find traditional Irish, Cajun, or folk as well, making it one of the neighborhood’s most eclectic venues. Its rustic appeal feels uncalculated—perfect for grabbing a plate of barbecue and a beer preshow. Softening rockers like J Mascis and Doug Martsch may stop by with a sound as evolved as their audience, but lest you think the Tractor isn’t punk, check out the annual Rockabilly Ball, where there’s arguably more style, attitude, and action than anywhere in town. 5213 Ballard Ave. N.W., 206-789-3599, www.tractortavern.citysearch.com.
