Cynthia Greig: Representations

If someone told you Cynthia Greig’s images were digitally untouched photos, you’d call them a liar. You probably would swear they were drawings rather than photographs. But, really, the shots in Greig’s “Representations” series haven’t been Photoshopped in order to look so great. Instead, she painted them white, drew on the edges with charcoal and graphite, and arranged them against a white set. A master of illusions, Greig’s other work in her exhibit, “Objectivity” (through Oct. 4), humorously places miniature objects among life-size environments that include human fingers and eyes,. Keep those eyes open, though, because Greig makes an exception in her photo Condom when she places a microscopic rubber next to the real deal. Let’s hope both weren’t used.
