Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys probably has the most enviable music career of all the young female pop stars out there today. The Harlem-raised singer-songwriter has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, won 11 Grammy Awards, and been compared by critics to legends like Roberta Flack—all by the age of 27. And she’s managed to do it without taking off her clothes or having her face plastered on tabloid covers. Keys’ success stems from her ability to compose radio-friendly R&B and sing her heart out. (OK, it probably also helps that she’s easy on the eyes.) The talented musician is still riding the momentum of her 2007 album As I Am, but fans will get to hear some new material when Keys and Jack White (yes, of the White Stripes) team up for an unlikely collaboration this fall. Let’s hope it leaks on the Internet sooner. WaMu Theater, 1000 Occidental Ave. S., 628-0123, www.ticketmaster.com. $35–$100. 8 p.m. ERIKA HOBART
