Saying goodbye to summer is always rough, but saying hello to salmon makes it a whole lot easier. Friday through Sunday, help greet our fishy friends at the 16th annual Salmon Homecoming celebration. Hosted by the Seattle Aquarium and the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission, this year’s theme is “The Drum Beats for Everyone.” Family-friendly events include wild salmon bakes, storytelling, traditional music, and the Grand Entry Salmon Homecoming Pow Wow (Saturday at noon). Various arts and crafts booths will offer wares for sale. Also enjoy cultural presentations from the Suquamish, Swinomish, Muckleshoot, and other local tribes. Welcome back, little fishies; I saved you a place right here on my barbecue. Waterfront Park, 1301 Alaskan Way, www.salmonhomecoming.com. Free. 11 a.m.–6 p.m. SUZIE RUGH
Sun., Sept. 14, 11 a.m., 2008
