No matter where you stand on the whole pot-legalization issue, this years Hempfest has a couple of great things going for it. First is this years theme, Industrial Hemp: What It Can Do for America, which promotes products like clothing made of fabric less soil-degrading than cotton, and paper that doesnt entail logging and deforestation. So enough about medical marijuanalets talk business! Lets make some money! (Yes, vendors will be selling their wares.) But if you want a respite from cannabis economics, the second great attraction at the weekend festival will be the awesome musicLaYzie Bone (of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony), Dre Ghost, and Thin C are headlining on Sunday. Together they should be more potent than your morning bowl. Myrtle Edwards Park, 3130 Alaskan Way, www.hempfest.org. Free. 10 a.m.8 p.m. SARA BRICKNER
