Harry Shearer

“Smithers? Come here—I need you to rub some lotion on this rash. I think an orphan rubbed against me in the street.” That’s right, Harry Shearer gives voice to Mr. Burns on The Simpsons (along with nebbishy neighbor Ned Flanders, dimwit anchorman Kent Brockman, and other characters). His long Hollywood résumé also includes This Is Spinal Tap, his NPR program Le Show, and most of the Christopher Guest movies. And as fans will know from his molesting a string bass in A Mighty Wind, Shearer is also an able musician. Tonight through Wednesday, he’ll be performing with The High Value Detainees, performing songs from Songs of the Bushmen (as in Bush). Will you be surprised to learn that his satirical targets also include Karl Rove, Donald Rumsfeld, and Scooter Libby? Not if you’ve heard his political musings on Le Show. Requests? That might be too much to ask. But if you’re lucky, perhaps he’ll do an encore of “See My Vest.” Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, 2033 Sixth Ave., 441-9729, www.jazzalley.com. $26.50. 7:30 p.m. BRIAN MILLER
