This is the summer everyone decided they wanted their own massive pop festival. New, sweaty celebrations of the zeitgeist have cropped up in Denver, San Francisco, New York and, um, Pemberton, B.C. But, does the Northwest need another three-day rock festival the same distance from downtown Seattle as The Gorge? Legions of thirsty 19 and 20 year olds say yes. Enter Pemberton Festival, which is enlisting Sasquatch! vets like Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, Nine Inch Nails, and The Flaming Lips, to lure area youth to the land of a bad exchange rate and rockin' drinking age. Saturday alone, featuring Tom Petty, My Morning Jacket, and Sam Roberts Band, is worth the trip. Drive safe, y'all.
