Ballard SeafoodFest

Norwegians, seafarers, fishermen, and regular folk alike will be heading to the Ballard SeafoodFest this weekend to feast on fin-flippin’ freshness. Only true Seattleites will be able to appreciate the star of the show—a host of succulent alder-smoked salmon being prepared on the street by seasoned grillers. Pair that with three stages of entertainment, including alt-rocker Chuck Prophet and the swingin’ Cajun jams of Etouffee. There’ll also be a family stage, where painted dolls will appear courtesy of Welcome Marionettes and Clay Martin’s Puppets. If nothing else, you can munch your way through the variety of food vendors’ booths selling their wares both Saturday and Sunday. Downtown Ballard, 2208 N.W. Market St., 784-9705, www.seafoodfest.org. Free. 11 a.m.–7 p.m. JAIME SWINDLE
