The Mark of Zorro

Organist Dennis James will introduce and provide a live score for this 1920 silent. Douglas Fairbanks stars as the famous Latin swashbuckler and defender of the poor. In truth, Fairbanks plays two roles: the athletic swordsman and pre-comic book superhero; and the decadent aristocrat Don Diego (Zorro's alter ego, a kind of blue-blooded Clark Kent). And you better believe Fairbanks does all his own stunts, not like Antonio Banderas and all those other sissies who later donned the famous black mask and tights. (On the other hand, Marguerite de la Motte was no Catherine Zeta-Jones.) (NR) BRIAN MILLER
