Greenway Days

For those just itching to get outdoors after a long workday in the office cubicle, don’t fear—Greenway Days are here (with a stamp of approval from Ron Sims). This annual celebration aiming to preserve the great outdoors along the Interstate 90 corridor has more than 20 events lined up (through June 29). Roll over to Issaquah to drool on 900 Hot Wheels (of the working, life-size, classic kind), or strap on the hiking boots for a jaunt up Mt. Si or Tiger Mountain. For eco-competitive types, today’s Mountain to Sound Relay race is fully booked, with more than 1,000 jocks divided among various teams leaving Hyak at 8 a.m. From there, they’ll run, bike, and paddle all the way to Golden Gardens Park. That’s 100 miles, which some 75 endurance athletes will also race solo. You can watch them, for free, at various points along I-90, the Sammamish Slough, and the Burke-Gilman Trail. I-90 corridor, various locations, 382-5565, www.mtsgreenway.org and www.mountainstosound.com. Free–$21. 8 a.m.–9 p.m. JOSHUA LYNCH
