Miyazaki Fest

Anime without tears means anime without subtitles. Through August, this series of three Hayao Miyazaki cartoons (one per month) will feature all those saucer-eyed waifs, wood nymphs, benign witches, and friendly monsters with 100 percent dubbed-into-English dialogue. The Tuesday-Wednesday retrospective is perfect for kids, in other words, who all ought to be out of school right now. First up, from 1984, is NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind, in which our young heroine saves her people and proves that we don't have to trample nature in the bargain. (PG) BRIAN MILLER
