MC Lyrics Born is so excited about his new album, Everywhere at Once, which dropped April 22, that he began a recent blog entry with: “They can’t stop us, peoples!!!!!!!!!” For connoisseurs of the exclamation point (i.e., Tom Wolfe fans) and underground hip-hop, Lyrics’ enthusiasm is understandable, as it’s been a while—like, oh, five years—since the Bay Area scenester put out a solo disc. The Japan-born lyricist has so much energy and blazing talent, you can’t help but wiggle a little. So, unless you’re an evildoer who knows how to do the Google, you won’t take money of out this fantastically elastic, smooth-butter rhyme-spitter’s pockets—you’ll cop the album legitimately.
