The Sweetheart Army

Charming newcomers Hernan Savastano and Ali Marcus of Sweetheart Army posted several unabashedly enthusiastic blogs and videos on their MySpace page last month to announce their first show at the Mix. Though they cite Elliot Smith and Wilco as influences, the Sweetheart Army’s debut showcased complimentary he-she vocals blended with subtle acoustic melodies most reminiscent of indie darling duo Mates of State. Savastano’s languid drawl and Marcus’s saccharine-sweet chirp make for a collaboration so lovely that even Seattle’s music connoisseurs/snobs should open them with open arms this evening.
