Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

The late Alvin Ailey (1931-1989) still has name on the door, but he always shared the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theaterwith a variety of choreographers. Programming for these weekend appearances is a wild mix, from Maurice Bejart’s high-style version of Firebirdto Twyla Tharp’s ecstatic The Golden Section.There’s Ailey’s jazzy Night Creaturesand a chorus of local dance students in his Memoria.
