Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

An omnibus of choreography hits town

The late Alvin Ailey (1931-1989) still has name on the door, but he always shared the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater with a variety of choreographers. Programming for these weekend appearances is a wild mix, from Maurice Bejart’s high-style version of Firebird to Twyla Tharp’s ecstatic The Golden Section. There’s Ailey’s jazzy Night Creatures and a chorus of local dance students in his Memoria. Add to that the fiftieth anniversary of Ailey’s classic Revelations, the closer for each performance. Paramount Theater, 911 Pine St., 292-2787, www.theparamount.com. $25-$50. 8 p.m. Fri., March 28-Sat., March 29; 2 & 8 p.m. Sun., March 30. SANDRA KURTZ
