Ryan Boudinot & Jonathan Raban

The Frye’s “New Works” quarterly reading series is just what it sounds like—authors get together and make connections between the literary world and the visual art on display at the museum. Tonight’s performance may be most notable for the presence of Jonathan Raban, who’ll discuss Albert Bierstadt’s painting Rainbow in the Sierra Nevada, but in my world, it’s all about local author Ryan Boudinot. He was the best in a group corralled by Hugo House to read during last year’s Bumbershoot, cracking the audience up with a selection from his book The Littlest Hitler. Here, he’ll be speaking on the art of Tim Eitel, a Berlin-based painter in the New Leipzig School, and he’ll no doubt find a way to make that endeavor your choice over a TGIF happy-hour.
