Girl Power Hour

A monthly time-out for girls on the go

“Where Social Circles Collide”: As the motto of local networking monthly Girl Power Hour, I’d say it’s a fairly ambitious one. In the Emerald City, where plenty of upwardly mobile young professionals are without a car and neighborhoods are far apart, it’s all too possible to spend an entire month without leaving yours (or your circle of PBR-swilling homies at Smith—what’s up!). But if you’re itching to dish on job opportunities, fashion, or whateverwith people you’ve never met, here’s your chance. Last year, local ladies Darnell Sue (a house DJ) and Samantha Lawton (who works in “green” business) joined forces after a boring meet-and-greet to make a better such event for all the savvy chicks they knew. Every third Thursday, they find a charity to support—this time it’s Soles 4 Souls, so bring a pair of gently used shoes—while expanding upon their own support systems. Put a good foot forward, in more ways than one. Twist Restaurant & Lounge, 2313 First Ave., 448-9478. $10. 6:30-8:30 p.m.RACHEL SHIMP
