A visual story of unrequited love (or lust) between two fancy-shirted cowboys: that’s Isaac Julien’s The Long Road to Mazatlan (screened in Seattle once before in 2004’s “Only Skin Deep” photography exhibit at SAM). A digital, paint-blurred, almost cartoonish short of what appears to be a gorilla, caught and retold in a mess of color: Takeshi Murata’s Monster Movie. And a trope on how to jump off a bridge: a summer tale, looped over and over again. All that falling gets beautiful, if you watch long enough: the reluctant bravery it takes to jump off the bridge, and (shown in quick succession) all of those young bodies. And the one girl pulled in, her legs careening in the empty air. This last one is Dara Friedman’s Government Cut Freestyle, depicting kids jumping off a pier in Miami. Western Bridge’s current video-based show, “Multiplex,” is a little summer, a little romance, all of it a little hypnotic. Hours: Noon–6 p.m. Thurs.–Sat. Show ends March 29.
