We go together. Maybe like guns and ammunition go together. Aw, thats so sweet. John Dall and Peggy Cummins play lovers more aroused by steel than flesh in Gun Crazy (1950), paired with The Prowler (1951) to begin this weeklong series of noir double features. As youd expect in other films starring Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, Richard Widmark, and Ida Lupino (smokin hot in Road House), double crosses are the rule, cigarettes are puffed by the carton, and reason always surrenders to greed and lust. Noir scholar Eddie Muller is expected to attend and introduce some screenings; see SIFF Web site for details and schedule through Thurs., Feb. 21. (NR)
7 p.m. (The Prowler) and 9 p.m. (Gun Crazy).
Fri., Feb. 15, 7 & 9 p.m., 2008
