Sleepy Eyes of Death

Friday, January 18

Can the Liars really fill the Showbox? January is packed with odd bookings at the Market venue, but that’s January. Maybe because some of the Baltic Room’s imaginative former bookers are working at the cavernous SoDo spot, its lounge bookings are pretty fun all month—especially the triple-threat of tonight’s. Sleepy Eyes of Death have been impressing the pants off fans of M83 and metal-shoegazers since the release of last year’s Streetlights for a Rib Cage. Truckasaurus, who sequence their vintage synths with a modified Game Boy, and the lo-fi electro group the Long Ranger likewise have the respect of the indie dance community’s gearheads, geeks, and rollerskate-dancers. They don’t need luck to fill this room. RACHEL SHIMP
