Tastings at the Needle

Gourmet grub at the top of town

Think only tourists visit the top of the Space Needle? Tonight might be a good time to get over it (the city, that is, on the cheap) and enjoy a two-for-one gourmet event. Chef Jason Wilson from Crush hosts a cooking demo, joined by a simultaneous wine-tasting from Walla Walla’s Northstar Winery. The food menu is still being crafted, with an eye to pairing the comestibles with the evening’s vino, a Columbia Valley Stella Maris (Blanc 2005 and Red Blend 2004). If you’ve never set foot inside the Needle’s rotating restaurant, there is a dress code. From the SkyCity restaurant website: “The following attire is not acceptable: hats, athletic tank tops, muscle-tees, ripped, torn or frayed clothing and cargo, athletic or jean shorts. Dress shorts are acceptable.” Well, most likely you won’t have stepped off the nearby Ferris wheel.
