My One Night Stand with Cancer

The theatrical memoir of a cancer survivor

Award-winning author, playwright, and comic Jewish lesbian Tania Katan combines sexual innuendo with malignant tumors to create her memoir turned one-woman performance My One Night Stand with Cancer. She was diagnosed with breast cancer once at 21 and again at 30; sometime after the chemotherapy and the two mastectomies, she thought that laughing about cancer would be a good idea. And it was. Her inspirational book has earned numerous accolades, and the premiereof the stage version promises to be a funny, uplifting experience. Also an avid runner, Katan has gained notoriety for racing topless, baring what she no longer has in support of the research that could save women’s lives. Will the racy races make it into the play? See it and find out.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Oct. 11. Continues through Nov. 11, 2007
